Today, Friday August 14th 2020, marks the release date of Dutnoff’s debut single, “Next Life”.

The first time you looked upon an album cover that made you want to get to the record player before the world ended (or press play on the screen even though you were in the middle of the wrong time to do so), you were already hooked on music. It’s all about the music. Sometimes it’s just the noise of it, sometimes it’s the words you hear, and always, it’s the way it makes you feel.
ROY SHAMEDEST of DUTNOFF says of their music:
Dutnoff makes music that loves guitars, loves the noisy side of electronic, and loves a melody or hook that can take you away to somewhere else, where the music seems to be the only thing. Drawing from a wide variety of influences, from many past decades of soulful music, from rock to blues to punk to new wave, the sound of Dutnoff’s music could be defined as lo-fi songwriter punk or new wave… words come easy to Dutnoff, but it’s hard to put it into words. You have to listen, really.
Nowadays, with the digitization and quantization of music, it can be challenging to make recordings that sound “real.” Dutnoff’s music attempts to exploit or maybe celebrate the somewhat unfiltered and sometimes inexplicable imperfections of a live performance; this allows the music to truly sing at times.Yes, the music uses electronic drums (sometimes programmed sometimes not). Yes, the tracks are digital, but they are played through from beginning to end, for better or worse. They are played with rock n’ roll intentions (is this what is meant when people say, “played with heart”?). Ultimately, the noises come out, and they’ll make you happy sometimes, and keep you company when you’re not. The songs linger in the past at times, and also look to the purple-ish future. Heavy music comes not only from a distortion pedal, and this is reflected in the moods and sounds that make up Dutnoff’s songs. And distortion is something that we like too. This music is inspired by a need to share ideas and sounds, and also by a bizarre and desperate attempt at immortalization.
“Next Life” will be followed shortly by Dutnoff’s second single, “Sentimental Cowgirl”, coming August 28th on Shame Destroyer.
